Kate Shannon was born in Birmingham, England and studied for a BA in Graphic Design at Birmingham Polytechnic (now rather grandly called The University of Central England).
Since 1980, she has freelanced as a children’s book illustrator, working in both traditional media and digital.
Clients include BBC Worldwide, Ladybird, Piccolo, Corgi, Folens, Gill Macmillan, HarperCollins.
Kate likes to travel and has ambled around Europe and North Africa with Gus, a 75 VW camper (it’s still going) which doubles as a mobile studio and greenhouse.
Kate has spent some time in Huntsville, Alabama. Zurich, Helsinki, Frankfurt,
and Budapest. She now lives in West Cork in Ireland.
In-between illustrating, she spends time growing vegetables,
and chasing sheep, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs out of the vegetable patch.
